Valerian oil is extremely relaxing and soothing. It is particularly good for insomnia and nervous disorders.
Valerian is a herb which grows up to 1.5 meters in height. Although known as European Valerian, this plant is native to, and grows wild, in Asia and is closely related to Spikenard. It has a deeply musky, earthy aroma.
Valerian has a pungent aroma, which can be lifted by blending with Roman or Moroccan Chamomile, Patchouli, Lavender, Cedarwood, Sweet Orange or Mandarin.

To encourage a restful night's sleep, try 1 drop of Valerian, 2 drops of Roman Chamomile and 1 drop of Lavender blended with 10ml of Coconut oil. Massage this gently all over the body, then lie back in a warm bath to allow the blend to soak into the skin.
Alternatively, the same quantities of essential oils could be added to a burner or diffuser placed in the bedroom half an hour before bedtime.
